Why College Knowledge LA?

"My counselor only helps me with planning my classes, but I need someone to help me plan my future."

- Veronica, 11th grader

"I wish I had someone who could show me how to fill out a college application."

-Laura, 12th grader

"I know I have to go out and look for the information I need, but where can I go?"

- Saul, 12th grader

College Knowledge LA connects Los Angeles students to local resources and events. Many college access mobile apps aim to simplify the process and pack as much information as possible into one app, but let's keep it real. There is nothing simple about getting into college, especially as a first-generation college student. No mobile app can replace the valuable face-to-face advisement necessary for students to navigate the daunting maze of higher education.

College Knowledge LA is both research and practice driven. Research shows that for students to achieve college access and success, information should be paired with interaction so students can ask questions and better understand the complex nature of higher education. Speaking to both students and educators, we have learned that what students need is a simple, direct way to connect to the information and potential mentors they need.

We are not looking to replace counselors, college advisors, or educators. We are an online resource that aims to connect students to offline resources. We aim to provide real access to real people who are committed to helping students get into and through college.
